About
FACEF is delighted to announce its support to the exhibition “On Country: Photography from Australia”, presented from 7 July to 5 October 2025 at the Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles, one of the world’s most prestigious and longest running photography festivals. “On Country” brings together works from 17 artists and collectives, both indigenous and non-indigenous, and marks the first regional focus on Australia at the Rencontres d’Arles.
The exhibition is curated by PHOTO Australia, Melbourne-based photography biennial, in partnership with guest curator Kimberley Moulton (Yorta Yorta), Adjunct Curator Indigenous Art at the Tate Modern. Through over 200 photographic works depicting the diversity of Australian photography, the exhibition explores the visible and invisible aspects of being “On Country”, a term embodied by First Peoples in Australia to describe the lands, waterways, seas and cosmos to which they are connected.
This project fully aligns with FACEF’s mission: to support artistic and cultural exchanges between France and Australia by enabling connections, cooperation and visibility of talents from both countries. “On Country: Photography from Australia” embodies FACEF’s commitment to promoting artists and professionals, by giving them access to new networks, audiences and opportunities.
